Geographical data

Câmpina city is situated in Prahovei Valley at an altitude of 435 m, has the total area of 2343 ha and it has a population of 38,758 inhabitants. These sizes situate it immediately after Ploiesti City.

The geographic coordinates that are met at the center of the city are: the 45 degree and 10 minute parallel of northern latitude, and the 25 degree and 42 minute eastern longitude meridian.

Câmpina borders, to the east, Telega community - 2 km, to the north, Cornu community - 3 km and Brebu community - 6 km, to the west, Poiana Campina community - 2 km, and to the south, Banesti community - 2 km.

The specific landscape is generated by the geological structure and the action of exogenous factors; in terms of geomorphology, one level of ridges and one of the valleys can be noticed. The major landscape is represented by the peaks Pitigaia (634m) and Ciobul (618m).The hydrographical network is represented by Prahova river, Doftana river and Campinita creek.
