The Paltinu Dam

The Paltinu Dam is located near the city of Câmpina, on the Doftana river valley, downstream of its confluence with the Păltinoasa valley, in the gorges known as ‘’La Tocile’’.

In the dam’s cross section, the valley is characterized by a high asymmetry. On the left bank, there is a terrace with a length of approximately 100m. The bedrock is made of sandstone with intercalations of marl and clay slates. The bedrock is crossed by several faults and a complex system of cracks.

The dam has a height of 108m above foundation, the up side of the dam being of 654 mdm.  The total length of the up side of the dam is 455 m.
